Astronomy Smackerels

"Astronomy Smackerels" are short pieces I've written either as a result of a small literature/web search for random bits of astronomy information for my job (and I didn't want to lose the information) or because I was unable to find a good webpage with some seemingly simple piece of astronomy information. They arise from either short projects for work or out of questions I receive while in the hotseat for the Ask a High Energy Astronomer program through Imagine the Universe .
