Help! quick!
Did I mention Congress?
I’m going to Congress on Wednesday this week as part of an army of scientists being brought in to lobby on behalf of science funding. I’ve already figured out what I’m wearing to Congress on Wednesday (I bought a new outfit – see it here).
However, there is an orientation and reception Tuesday night for the members of the lobbying team. Presumably, I could dress for this as though I were coming straight from work, but the problem is that I wear shorts or jeans to work. So, I need your opinion on what to wear. Here are three options from my wardrobe (click on the images for a full-sized view and keep in mind that the outfit may not be completely ironed and I’m not wearing the body-constricting undergarments that I’ll be wearing Tuesday).
Let me know in the comments ASAP which outfit you think I should wear.
Option 1 | Option 2 | Option3 |
Between you and me madam, today, the nuber two.
Definatly the number two.
Go Science Funding!!!
#2 is the lowest-key, so I’d go for that one. #1 would also work, but the colour will certainly make you stand out. The skirt in #3 strikes me as a bit too informal for a first meeting (if the preparation was several days long, you could wear this outfit on a later day).
I’ve gotten two off-blog votes, both for Option 1.
One of the justifications was: “I vote for option one, because you want to have a jacket (in the world of politics and business, jacket equals power). You want to appear as if you already have power, thus the jacket puts you on the same level as every one else. In addition, the first option has the nice monochromatic colors underneath which make you look taller.”
I am all over number one – the color is great on you, and the entire outfit is flattering. Number two is a close second, but I think that number three might be a tad informal.
But regardless of what you wear, you are so sexy!!!
Love, Sweetie
Another off-line vote, this time a tie between 1 and 2, with a leaning toward 2, mainly because she is more comfy in slacks than skirts.
I’d say number two, but I’m a guy so my vote probably doesn’t count as much on fashion advice.
Two more votes: Both for Option 2.
From Stef’s justification: “Since the orientation/reception is in the evening, I vote for the darker outfit, #2. #1 seems too bright (but I do agree with Sweetie that the color looks good on you!) and #3 would work better for a mid-day orientation, I think.”
The other leaned toward #2 because she prefers pants (like an earlier vote)
I opt for number 2. Looks nice, it’s professional looking, you have a jacket you can take off if you get warm or keep on for cooler weather. I like the simplicity of the line. It flows whereas #1 doesn’t go together as nicely and #3 is too casual.
Gonna go with number 2. But I’m an ex-New Yorker where according to Mushi we only wear black or dark colors.
